Give it a try. I tried uploading png files once and it wouldn't accept them until I converted them to jpegs. It wouldn't hurt you to try though.

I've successfully uploaded some PNG files, so I guess it works!

And I see my first covers on the front page. Thanks for getting them up so fast! It looks like they pass the test, eh?

If your cover has been rejected 3 or 4 times then there really must be something wrong with it and as for e-mailing you there is just no way we can e-mail everyone who gets a cover rejected it is just not practical. If you would like to upload another couple i'll check them out and get back to you  cheers.gif

I have uploaded several covers before I knew there were any rules, but when the upload is successful, a little note pops up and tells the uploader that it will take up to 48 hrs. and if it's not approved, they will e-mail you the reason why. So if that is too impractical, you should remove that message. If you were to do as you say and let the uploader know what is up or wrong with the covers, then you wouldn't have so many bitchin' about why their covers aren't there or have someone else name on it. I like this sight and I want to keep contributing to it.
Thanks for your Time, Tweetybird blink.gif

Hi there tweetybird...I know what you mean...your post sounds just like one of my posts when I first became a member. I was really incensed.
I think the 24HR thing was set up when this site just started up. Now there's something like 35,000 members. There are only so many moderators...and so many covers. We're trying to keep up with our commitment to you and all the other appreciated uploaders...but like everyone else, the mods go on holidays or get sick...etc. For a while we were having problems with site slowness which made approving covers impossible. Have a little patience with us...we're just regular people. smile.gif

The covers you uploaded probably did not have region info with them. We require all DVD covers to have a region code so they can be identified more easily as covers from around the world will differ - even for the same films! When the covers are checked, we look at the details with are generally on the rear cover, and if you have not included region info, we add it to the title, hence the R1, R2 etc. If we can't find the region info, or other clues don't tell us where it's from, we assume the cover is for a film that will play on UK TV systems, which is PAL. The USA uses NSTC, not too sure about other countries, but most use one or the other.

Hope that helps

If you've got a decent (300dpi+) scan of a cover - search the site for it. If it's not here already we want it! If it's different to the one that's already here - we want it! If yours is better quality than the one that's already here - WE WANT IT!

Hope that answers the question wink.gif

Probably most of today, moving over 1,000,000 images is not the quickest thing to do. We need to make sure that it's done properly to prevent problems later on.

QUOTE(shaka @ Apr 16 2006, 11:10 PM)
ok i find myself rejecting a lot of covers just now so can all members when uploading covers please check the following guidlines

1 : Make sure your cover is properly cropped and straight.

2 : Try and keep your covers @ 300dpi with the following sizes
    DVD cover - 3240 x 2175 pixels
    DVD & CD labels - 1500 x 1500 pixels

    the sizes are not essential but will help with approval especially if you are replacing and existing cover

3 : Please do a search before uploading. If you want to replace a cover with a better quality one please write REPLACEMENT in the title this can be edited out when being approved by the mod or admin.

4: For DVD covers please make sure you put the correct title, region code etc. this info can be below. For MUSIC cover please name them as ARTIST - TITLE or just the title for compilations.

If you have any questions regarding any of these guidlines please feel free to PM me.
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to upload your covers. The more QUALITY covers we get the better and more popular the site becomes.

Mark language if non-english.
Everything other than the artist/title should be in CAPS
Year is appreciated (especially for movies)
template: < title > < year > < edition > < language > < region > < custom >
example1: The Lord Of The Rings DUTCH R2 CUSTOM
example2: Lord Of War WS R1
example3: Madonna - Like A Virgin
example4: Now Thats What I Call Music 63

WS=widescreen
FS=fullscreen
SE=special edition
LE=limited edition
CE=collectors edition

R1 -> USA, Canada
R2 -> Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
R3 -> S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
R4 -> Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
R5 -> Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
R6 -> China

IF YOUR COVER DOES NOT MEET THESE SIMPLE RULES THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE IT WILL NOT BE APPROVED.

If they were small to begin with...they'll be small to end with.
