The New Pioneer DVD RW 212 & 112 Have had major laser problems , I have had several dead in the 1st six months of usage. The older 110 , 109 & even the 111's were rock solid. I am leaning towards the LG's or The Newer Sata Lite-on's
for reliability now.

I have gone through nec, pioneer, sony and lite-on all packed up aftre a couple of months use.
I am using 2 HP1035d's now and they seem fine.
Shame about the sony though, 'cos they could burn 8x DVD's @ 12x with no probs for a while.

I bought a Pioneer 212 which was locking up my PC but i think that was a mobo /driver issue running sata 2 HDD with sata 1 drive.
My Liteon SHW-160P6S08C it took ages to load in a DVD player i wasnt impressed at all with it.
Ive just bought a LG GSA-H55L & so far after 2 days & quite a few burns seems Very Good !

used them for years along with branded traxdata -discs (ritek) they work a treat,

One query... what about Sony DVD writers?? is the DRU-840A a good one?? but seriously how would you people say about Sony DVD writers in general??
If i had choice between ASUS & LiteOn DVD writers, which one would the most of you recommend me to purchase??
Please do help me out in my state of dilemma.
